This 2007 cycling mileage log spredsheet was created by Con Lynn and runs as a Microsoft Excel file. When you open this link you should choose the "SAVE" (right click and "save target as...") option rather than "OPEN". This will allow you to save the file somewhere on your hard disk. After that you will be able to open and run it anytime to log your miles throughout the year. If you use and enjoy this file be sure to thank Con when you see him on the road!

SMW member Elle Colquitt and Jon Livengood have published Knoxville-specific cycling book
After a year of bicycle riding (4300 miles), writing, mapping and photographing, Elle and Jon are excited to present a collection of Knoxville's finest back country routes for the cyclist. Bicycle Routes, Knoxville's first bicycle routes book, offers 40 scenic routes riding along less-traveled backroads through 9 surrounding counties. Each route is fully mapped showing stores and restrooms along the way, along with a route profile, the elevation gain, and description. Many of the routes feature a Point of Interest section for the routed area. Over 200 color photographs showcase the scenic landscape, views from the road, wildflowers and unusual spottings which are categorized under the On The Lookout section. Visit their website, www.MiniAdventureSeries.com, for slideshows from the routes and purchasing details.
Both Bikely and MapMyRide are free (mostly), powerful, web-based mapping tools for planning bike routes. Both offer point and click mapping, syncing with GPS devices, elevation profiles, and cue sheets. While MapMyRide is more feature-rich, some of the additional features cost. On the other hand (in the webmaster's experience), Bikely is more stable and less likely to crash while mapping.
